•The MOU document lasts for 20 years.
Will the Club Still be called Maclean Golf Club?
• The Golf Club will still trade and advertise as the Maclean Golf Club.
• The Golf club will be an entity of the Maclean Bowling Club.
Will Golf and the Volunteers on the course still be run by a Golf Committee?
• There will be an elected Golf committee, elected from golfing members.
• The elected Golf Committee will comprise from 5 to 9 members.
• The golf committee will be charged with running golf, volunteers and course improvements etc. Very similar to what happens now.
• There will still be sub-committees such as Ladies, Greens, Match etc.
• The Bowling club will issue the Golf Committee with a budget to run events and capital projects such as cart paths etc.
Can the Bowling club make widespread changes to the Golf Course, build new buildings units etc?
• No, any changes on the golf course proper must be authorised in writing by the golf committee.
• The Bowling club cannot build new buildings or structures on the golf course proper without the golf committees’ written approval. A Survey has been undertaken to define the golf course proper and spare land. (See Following) Note: The golf course proper does not included areas such as the clubhouse, carpark, cart sheds, green keepers’ area and spare land.
Can the Bowling Club sell the land?
• The Maclean Bowling Club cannot sell the land or core parts of the property without a vote of the members.
What will the golf course look like?
• The course will be kept as an 18-hole par 72 standalone golf course.

• Following the 1st year, it is the Bowling club board’s intention to assess the business and look to continue to improve the course, facilities and the business, as well as, investigate longer term projects such as those requiring DA’s.
What Happens to the Staff, will they lose their jobs?
• All Staff will be offered the same role and/or better conditions
Will I still be able to Volunteer on the Course?
Yes, volunteers will still be welcome under the supervision of the Course Superintendent and Greens Committee.
What Happens if the Bowling Club wishes to Cease Trading or a larger club wishes to take over the Maclean Bowling Club?
• If the Bowling club is ever taken over or wishes to cease trading of the Golf Club the golfing committee will be given the option to trigger a Deamalgamation process.
What happens if a De-amalgamation is triggered, who will own what and will the golf club be able to operate?
• If a de-amalgamation was to occur, and the golf club committee committed to take back over, the golf club would retain the equivalent of all assets the Golf Club owns now including cash at hand. The cash at hand will be calculated at cash handed over plus CPI increase over the time.
• In the event of a De-amalgamation, any fixed assets, improvements on the buildings and land will be transferred to the Golf Club.

Dear Staff and Members,
Thank you for your patience as our Board continues discussions with the Maclean Bowling Club regarding a proposed amalgamation.
We’re pleased to share that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is nearing completion. To keep you informed and involved, we invite you to attend a staff and members-only meeting.
Please note: The MOU is in the stages of finalisation, prior to an endorsement by both boards and signing. This meeting is the final stage of that process and as such is not a vote on the amalgamation.
Maclean Golf Club’s solicitor will be present to answer your questions directly as part of the consultation process.
It’s an opportunity to:
- Learn more about the current draft of the MOU and agreements made between the two boards.
- Understand the next steps in the process
- Ask questions on what has been agreed upon between the boards.
- Ask questions on what it means to the club legally
- Provide input to the process.
Note: input will only be accepted by current financial members (including Life Members) and Staff Members. Suggestions must be submitted in writing to the Board on the night or within 2 days of the meeting to mail@macleangolfclub.com.au. To be considered suggestions must including your name, signature and membership number.
Due to expected high interest, space restrictions and to ensure everyone can hear the speakers easily, we’ve scheduled two meeting sessions on the same day. Please use the MiGolf booking platform (The same as you would book a tee time) to select your preferred time. Note: The booking looks like a shot gun start competition on separate tees, this is not the case the meeting is inside the clubhouse and this system was setup, as it was the easiest way for members to be able to book online. Pick any spot, it does not matter there is no reserved seating. Each session will be capped at 60 attendees:
- Meeting 1: Tuesday 29 th July 4:00 PM – 5:15 PM Maclean Golf Course Clubhouse
- Meeting 2: Tuesday 29 th July 5:45 PM – 7:00 PM Maclean Golf Course Clubhouse
Doors will open at 3.30pm for meeting one. Following these meetings, the Board will review all member and staff feedback and work towards finalising the MOU for board endorsements and signing.
Here’s a look at the potential pathway ahead:
1. The MOU document is finalised.
2. The MOU needs to be endorsed by both boards and signed.
3. The MOU document will be displayed in each club and be provided to members 21 days prior to a special meeting.
4. A vote will be scheduled for members of each club members to approve or reject the MOU and proposed amalgamation.
5. If approved, a timeline will be established for implementation, including preparations for staff and members
Given the complexity of the process, we’re unable to provide exact dates for each step. However, both boards are keen to final the process in a timely manner. If you have any questions/feedback for the board, please email the Board at mail@macleangolfclub.com.au attention to the Hon Secretary.
Thank you
