Our Competitions

Our veterans play an 18 hole medley competition every Monday and as with all events at Maclean, visitors are very welcome to turn up at 8.00am for a draw with an 8.30 shotgun start. Call the pro-shop for more details - Veteran's News

A
nine hole relaxed medley stableford event known as “Bravehearts” operates every Tuesday starting at 9.00 am. With a low entry fee and extravagant prizes, visitors are always welcome.

Women's competitions are on Wednesday - a time sheet is available from 8.30 am. Members can book a tee-time on the MGC website. Women visitors with a Golflink handicap can contact the pro-shop for a tee-time. The Women's competition programme can be accessed in the competition calendar. Women's News


Men's 9 hole skins played every Wednesday, register at the bar before 1pm for a shotgun start at 1.30. Again, visitors very welcome.

An 18 hole medley event is played every Thursday. A time sheet is also available on the club website. Visitors with a Golflink handicap can telephone the pro-shop for a tee-time.

Saturday competition for all golfers with Golflink handicap is from 7.30 until 12.00 and a time sheet is available on the club website. Visitors are always welcome and bookings for visitors may be made through the pro-shop 6645-2183.

Maclean Golf Club - Men's and Women's Open Weekend 2025

2 Stroke Rounds - Saturday 18 October - Sunday 19 October

Played over 36 Holes. 

Conditions of Play 

This event is open to all players with a golflink number and GA handicap 

Male and Female Full, Juniors and Colts members with a GA handicap. 


Tees 

A, B & C Grade Men’s Play is from the Black Tees as set out on the day. 

The Women's Division will be played from the Red Tees. 


Format 

This is a 36-hole stroke competition, played over 2 days, and the winner is the player with the lowest Gross aggregate score and lowest Nett aggregate score in each grade. 


Local Rule 

The competition will be subject to the Courses’ Local Rules, as identified. 


Maximum Score 

Double Par plus one. 

Seven on a par three, nine of a par four eleven on a par five. 


Tee Time Slots 

All Tee Bookings will be made through the Proshop or Through the online booking system. 

Sunday's event will be a 9 o'clock shotgun start. 



Prizes 

Prizes will be awarded to all grade winners and runners-up in each of the grades for the 2-day event both Gross and Nett. Players are eligible for one major prize only. There will also be individual daily prizes for both winner and runner up in the Gross and Nett competition. 

Handicaps 

Handicap ranges that determine if a player will compete in A, B or C grade. 

  • A Grade +9.9 to 10.1 GA Handicap 
  • B Grade 10.2 to 18.1 GA Handicap 
  • C Grade 18.2 to 45 (Maximum daily handicap of 45) 

Women’s Division all handicaps (Maximum daily handicap of 54) 

Players reducing or increasing their handicaps during the above competition will remain in the same grade in which they started. Handicaps will still be adjusted daily. 


Schedule 

Maclean Golf Club. The 2025 Open Weekend will be played on the following dates: 

  • Saturday 18th October 
  • Sunday 19th October 

The Match Committee, Club Captain or authorised delegates reserve the right to alter or make any variations to the Conditions of Play, (including the number of rounds played), the fixtures program, the number of grades, or to the awarding of any trophy. 


These Conditions of Play are to be read and interpreted in conjunction with the Rules of Golf, the local rules, and general conditions of play of Maclean Golf Club.
